Is it safe to fast for two days?

I don't want to eat anything for two days. My mom stocked our house with food from the "bakery" which is really the food bank. All the food is expired or near expired and tastes awful. I tried to eat some bread but it had green mold on it, and all the other food tastes like it's a few weeks old. We have no money and I don't get paid until friday. Can I make it if I just drink water and wait out the next 36 hours and buy some food?
